Father Caleb Lewis

Director of Liturgical Ministries |  frcaleblewis@sjotl.org

Father Caleb serves as Director of Liturgical Ministries, overseeing the liturgical life of the parish to foster beauty and prayerfulness among the clergy, the choir, the readers, the altar servers, and the faithful. He comes most recently from St Tikhon’s Monastery and Seminary in Pennsylvania, where he served as Director of Music, training seminarians in music and liturgics and supervising the musical life of the monastery community.

Fr Caleb grew up in Rome, GA. There he received the Faith in an Evangelical, Charismatic context. He then studied Church Music at Furman University here in Greenville, which started a three-year journey of reading and studying that ultimately led him to the Orthodox Church. After Furman, he went on to pursue graduate studies in Choral Conducting at Emory University and Indiana University, where he met his wife, Matushka Tabitha, and joined the Church. He then spent four years in the San Francisco Bay Area, serving as a parish choir director, teaching music at the University of California Davis, and performing throughout the region with the San Francisco Choral Artists and the American Bach Soloists. After discerning a call to the priesthood, the Lewises moved to South Canaan, PA, for Father to attend St Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, where he earned a Master’s of Divinity and later joined the faculty as Director of Music. Father and Matushka have two children, Rebecca and Aidan, with one on the way!
