The Feast of the Nativity is sometimes described as the "Winter Pascha." This "paschal" aspect is a key to understanding the deeper meaning of Christmas itself. In this series of classes we will dig into some of the major elements of the Nativity in order to find the Lord's Pascha.

1. The Shape of Pascha (11/19) The story of Christ's arrest, trial, torture, crucifixion, burial, and resurrection are collectively described with the word, "Pascha." It is the Greek word for the Hebrew Pesach, or "Passover." It is the heart of each of the four gospels and its significance is the subject of every letter, every word of the New Testament. Indeed, according to the Orthodox faith, it is the meaning of everything in the Old Testament, as well. What is the shape of these events? How do they reach out beyond themselves and gather all of the world into themselves? This class session will look at this "shape" - so that we can recognize it in the events surrounding Christ's Nativity: The Winter Pascha
